The last couple of months have been overwhelmed with the new music, new sounds and god damn great vibes! I have always been skeptical about Ugandan music; not even about being patriotic because I can be that just that I always like to be patriotic about something I can be proud of. A few good tunes here and there is what we had but a whole wave of great music, I have never been more in love with UG than I am right now.
As we get into a new month with even greater things to look forward to in entertainment, here are my top 5 songs you need to add to your playlist in case you already haven’t because these artists went to the studio and laid it down!
Big Tril ft. Seyi Shay – Faya
They give you that faya, that sweet sweet faya! Seyi Shay is undoubtedly one of Africa’s finest female artists. On this track, all I can say is Trizzy trizzy knows how to pick them. I’m not going to beat around the bush; this track is just your hottest “let’s bang” song. Y’know when two people are vibing and y’all just keep getting each other hot and bothered, yeah those are the vibes I get from this. It’s a dope turn up tune just as much as it is a curl up and fantasize type of tune.
Ninja C – Battle Of the hearts
Not only am I biased because this is my home girl and her talent always represents but I am also in love with this tune! She took the meaning of vibes and ripped it to shreds on this track. Ninja C talks about the struggle to maintain a love interest and all the games that go into it with her smooth vocals and rap. She lets her roots slip through with background vocals in Runyankore. REPRESENT! S/o to all those in that back and forth situation, y’all need to add this to your playlist ASAP.
SuunSound – No Lie
Mans from Musik Maestro is Killing it solo! This dancehall tune has been the wave for the last couple of weeks. It’s still brand new so don’t hate yourself if you don’t have it just yet. I need to tell y’all though as a music maestro fan, the vocals are hella stepped up in this one! SuunSound sounds all sorts of mature that a girl needs when you’re selling dreams. Well done on No Lie man! Issa tune!
Pryce Teeba — Bobi Wine
I’m going to kick this off by congratulating the Ghetto President, HE Bobi Wine on his Kyadondo East MP win! Mad respeck! Now Pryce, self-proclaimed UG’s best rapper goes in hard on this Bobi Wine tune. He takes trap and (w)raps it up so UG this song can’t help but be a tune! I definitely had to add this to my week’s playlist.
Nutty Neithan – Emu Temala
I have rabbadubbed my wall so hard to this song, I bet it’s sore. This love song from Nutty Neithan sells real L O V E dreams. Nothing in this world measures up to the love you give. It is so well written and don’t get me started on the track. Man if someone vibed me with this song, you have me in a heartbeat…kwata woyagala! It’s sensual yet you can turn up to it. My kind of Jam.
Wishing you great vibes this week… Maritza
